Biographical Info

Joe is a 5th generation family farmer from Northeastern Ohio, and has owned and operated Logan Brothers Ag Enterprises since 1977. The farm has specialized in producing a variety of products including milk, beef, grains and maple syrup. He still actively farms in partnership with his brother, specializing in grass fed beef, non-GMO grain, and organic crops. Joe currently serves as the President of the Ohio Farmers Union (OFU), and he previously served in the same role for a 6-year term between 2001-2007. He also served as the OFU Director of Governmental Relations before serving as the Director of Agricultural Programs for the Ohio Environmental Council (The OEC) from 2008-2013. Joe currently sits on the Board of Directors of the National Farmers Union (NFU) where he serves as the Chairman of the Legislative Committee and a member of the NFU Executive Committee. He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Organization for Competitive Markets (OCM), and the Coalition for a Prosperous America (CPA), where he serves as the Agricultural Co-Chairman. He has represented the OFU and the OEC on the Ohio Food Policy Council and the Ohio Phosphorus Task Force, a multi-agency taskforce convened to study water quality impacts from phosphorus runoff. Some of Joe’s other appointments include President of the National Association of Farmer Elected Committees (NAFEC 1998-2001) representing the interests of the locally elected Committees in the Farm Service Agency offices nationwide; board member on the Board of Directors of Dairy Farmers of America (DFA 1997-2000) and its predecessor Milk Marketing Inc. (MMI 1992-1997); President of the Harpersfield Vineyard LLC (1997-2005); and several terms as president of local and county school boards (1987-1999). Joe graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1971. He is the proud father of 3 grown children.
